The thickness is thin and it isn't a tight fit when it slides on the rack. I like its versatility.

Have not used it on the bike yet but I leave it in the trunk of my car for shopping. my commute to work is 22 miles of rough washboard gravel road so I don't leave to much on the rack or it just breaks apart.

The title says it all. This item is sturdy and well-made like everything from Topeak. I cannibalizes a couple of hooking belts from a different dog carrier and a cushy may folded to the right size, and presto! Dog carrier! Archie ride over 10 miles with me the first day. (Treats were involved, but not too many.)
