Will this work on an old 10 speed, say, a 1979 Raleigh Record that's been converted to a 1x5 drivetrain? The last 1/2" x 3/32" chain I tried (Sram PC870) kept trying to jump from 5 to 4 under load. I measured the old chain and it measured 1/2" x 3/32".
The SRAM PC-870 is built to the same 3/32 specifications as any 3/32 chain. So the X8 KMC chain could also jump if used on the same worn freewheel. Sometimes when replacing a chain you may also have to replace worn out gears. If the freewheel is also new, there could be other factors at play with your set up.
