I'm a senior who likes to ride liesurely and listen to the birds singing. I recently underwent two surgeries and was laid up in bed for 4 months. It is astounding how out of shape one can get. I am now better and I am trying to get back into shape. I wanted a nice, soft ride while still recuperating so I replaced the 28c Shwalbe Marathons I had on my old Rivendel Romulus with these Protite 38c tires. Rivendel bikes are designed to accommodate fatter tires and gravel bikes as well. I've ridden 5 times since my ordeal and am getting better--meaning less rest stops, less angina. I just ride real slow only 12 miles mostly flat and very minor hills. The Schwalbes, you almost can't get a flat tire, but they are heavy and provide a bone-crushing, harsh ride. Indirect contrast, the Paselas ride real nice and being fatter and pumped up to only 50 psi, I'm riding on clouds. And even pumped low, they still have less than expected rolling resistance. I wish they came in colors like the GravelKings.
